The Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) is a research institute of the University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida, United States.[1] The director of the institute is Randall Shumaker.[2]
The institute provides a wide range of research and information services for the modeling, simulation and training community of Central Florida. As well, the institute aids in undergraduate and graduate studies in modeling and simulation leading to bachelors degrees, masters degrees, professional science masters and doctoral degrees. IST is a member of the National Center for Simulation.
On January 27th, 2020, the director of the institute, Randy Shumaker, was fired after an internal investigation found that a doctoral student was receiving unauthorized assistance for their doctoral degree as well as plagiarizing their dissertation and pressuring other students into working on their dissertation in exchange for research grants. Two other professors, Daniel Barber and Lauren Reinerman-Jones, were also fired for unethical misconduct.[3]
