Major Abdul Waheed Chowdhury[1][2][3] (Template:Lang-bn; 1 September 1914 – 1 February 1965), also known as Major A.W.Choudhury , was a Bengali military leader. He served as an Officer beginning with service in the British Indian Army in 1941. He fought in Burma during World War II, and served in the Pakistan Army until 1948. Major Waheed was appointed head of 1st East Bengal Regiment training coy , and he is regarded as the founder of the the regiment. WWII veteran senior- experienced Bengali Officer of British Indian Army Major Abdul Waheed Choudhury[4] was designated as the regiments founding Commandant / Officer Commanding of the training company 1st East Bengal Regimen the first Officer Commanding O.C. of the Senior Tigers was a British Indian Army's and Pakistan Army's most senior and experienced Bengali Officer / Commandant Major Abdul Waheed Choudhury who was designated as the regiments founding Commandant / Officer Commanding to raise the Training Company the Senior Tigers.The Commandant Major Abdul Waheed Choudhury for the first time raised and trained the 1st East Bengal Regiment with his relentless effort and sacrifices with limited resources and adverse situations ,the rest is history.The very first Officer Commanding O.C. of the Senior Tigers[5] was a British Indian Army's senior-most and experienced Bengali Officer Commandant Major Abdul Waheed Choudhury

Early life :He was born in Driyapur village of Habigonj District in 1914 a.d. Major Abdul Waheed Choudhury[6] was the first founding Officer Commanding O.C / Commandant of 1st east Bengal Regiment Training Coy he was given responsibility to rise the regiment.
