Prior to the 2019 Australian federal election, the Communist Party of China allegedly attempted to recruit Nick Zhao, an Australian citizen of Chinese heritage, to run as a LNP in the Australian Parliament. Nick Zhao was allegedly offered 1 million AUD in campaign money for the seat. After he refused to act on their behalf as an agent of the CCP, he reportedly referred the matter to ASIO, after which he was found dead. [1]
