BBC BASIC was developed in 1981 as a native programming language for Acorn BBC Microcomputer. It extended traditional BASIC with procedures and functions, REPEAT/UNTIL, IF/THEN/ELSE and FOR/TO/STEP/NEXT structures. BBC BASIC also included powerful statements which utilized BBC Micro's 4-channel sound and graphics output.
