Plumbr is an Estonian software product company founded in late 2011[3] and operating principally in North America and across the EU. It develops application performance monitoring (APM)[4] software and real-user monitoring software[5]. Originally designed to run on a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), Plumbr now supports a wide range of popular frameworks like PHP[6], Java[7] and Python.

Unlike other APMs, Plumbr is unique in that it automatically detects (rather than just analyse) the bottlenecks and errors in code by linking application performance data to end user experience.[8]

Products

Plumbr offers two principle products:

  • Plumbr Application Performance Monitoring (Plumbr APM)[9]
  • Plumbr Real-User Monitoring (Plumbr RUM)[10]

Plumbr software employs alerts and distributed traces to discover and verify errors. It then uses impact analysis and root-cause detection to help prioritise and implement fixes.

Plumbr monitors customer applications and APIs for errors, bottlenecks and bugs that affect the experience of end-users. This is done by monitoring for a range of performance and availability issues, such as (but not limited to) slow database queries, slow external web services, memory leaks, garbage collection pauses and locked threads.[11]

In the case of incidents, Plumbr provides its users with information on problem severity, root cause location in source code or configuration, and lists steps needed to be taken to remediate the problem.

Clients include NASA, NATO, Dell, HBO, Experian, EMC Corporation. [12]
