Bubble (programming language)
Bubble is a visual programming language and application platform as a service, developed by Bubble Group, that enables non-technical people to build web-applications without needing to type code. Instead, users draw the interface by dragging and dropping elements onto a canvas and defining workflows to control the logic.[1] Bubble's vision is to make handcoding largely obsolete.[2]
While it is visual it does require some learning, and can be used to create more advanced functionality than what is possible with template-oriented web application builders such as Wix. It is used in schools for education purposes, and by other organizations for commercial purposes.[3][4]
History
Bubble[5] was founded by Emmanuel Straschnov and Josh Haas in 2012 in New York.[6][7]
As of October 2018, Bubble counts more than 200,000 users worldwide.[citation needed]
Bubble has been bootstrapped for 7 years.[8] In 2019, Bubble raised $6M from SignalFire, Neo, Nas, Eric Ries and the founders of Warby Parker, Allbirds, Okta, Harry's.[9]
