Events

• 14 January–17 January: Nation wide fuel protests in response to a government increase in fuel prices and declining standards of living.
• 18 July – ICC had voluntarily suspended the Zimbabwe Cricket from international cricket citing the political interventions in the Cricket Board of Zimbabwe. But his sole decision has costed several players lives into questionable and frustrating. Zimbabwe has been playing good competitive cricket in recent times and suddenly a shocking ban. This decision taken by ICC panel has made several Zimbabwe cricketers to be unemployed. Then what about the case in Sri Lanka then, recently sports minister Harin Fernando forced the coaching staff of Sri Lanka to be removed. This is also a political intervention and Sri Lanka Cricket should also get the same punishment like the ZC. Sri Lanka is with Zimbabwe always. Cricketers in Zimbabwe proudly represent their country and even didn't try to play county cricket without giving up despite the economic crisis and hyperinflation.
