Major Satish Dahiya, Shaurya Chakra (22 September 1985 – 14 February 2017) was an officer of the Indian Army, posthumously awarded with the Shaurya Chakra, India's highest and most prestigious award for valour, for his actions during the 2017 Fighting terrorists in Kashmir, India. Major Satish Dahiya led his men during “Operation SATISH HAJAN’. This operation was fully conceived, planned and executed by him. He eliminated hardcore foreign terrorist single handily even when there was a heavy volume of fire. In the whole operation, he ensured the safety of his men. Even though he sustained serious gunshot wounds, he displayed fearlessness and courage beyond the call of duty. He uttered disregard to his personal safety and refused to evacuate the area of operation till the total elimination of the terrorist. He continued leading the operation till the termination and directed his men for total elimination of the terrorist. He attained martyrdom during evacuation after sustaining grave gunshots during operation.
