The CS/LR17/CS/LR18 (Chinese: CS/LR17/18 型模块化自動步槍) is a "new generation" modular gun system developed by NORINCO with marketing to be done by Jianshe Industry Group.[1]

History

The system was first publicly shown in November 2016 with the 5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm versions (NAR-556 and 751) first shown.[2] The CS/LR17 series is meant to be marketed to the export market.[3] Their main competitors consist of the Ak-12, the Galil ACE, the HK416/417 and the SCAR series.[1]

A heavily redesigned variant was shown at the 2018 Zhuhai Airshow.[4][5]

Design

Development of the CS/LR17/LR18 system first started back in 2014, basing their design on the FN SCAR series.[2] An unnamed UBGL is in development to complement it.[2]

The system consists of three calibers: 5.56×45, 7.62×39 and 7.62×51.[6] A heavily-redesigned variant was shown at the 2018 Zhuhai Airshow.[7][8]
