Considered one of the premium American Handguns, the Python was introduced by the Colt Firearms Company in 1955.

This is a double action, large frame handgun chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge originally developed by Smith & Wesson. Pythons have a well-deserved reputation for superior fit & finish, accuracy, smooth trigger pull and a tight cylinder lock-up.

Pythons have a very American "muscular" and businesslike appearance. A full barrel underlug, ventilated rib and adjustable sights combine to give the gun its unique look. Over the years the Python has been made available as a 2.5 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch revolver. Finishes on these guns have always been outstanding: the smooth and bright nickel finish was retired some time ago, but the stainless steel and Colt Royal Blue finishes are still offered with 4 and 6 inch barrels.

Colt Pythons command high prices - new or used, and are almost a necessity for the collection of any serious handgunner.
