EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Despite the hardship of Martial Law, Chel graduated high school with honors, was president of the La Salle Green Hills student council, and a Gerardo Roxas Leadership Awardee.[1]
In 2009, Diokno founded the De La Salle University College of Law, with the aim of developing leaders who are committed to upholding the rights of every Filipino. He has served as the College's Dean since 2009 [2]
POLITICS
In the 2019 Senator Election, he is running under the Liberal Party [3]
“What happened in this administration really affected me not just as a lawyer but as a person because I saw the law destroyed little by little. I saw all the foundations of what is supposed to be a democratic form of government crumbling and I felt I just couldn’t sit and watch it happen,” he said.
Diokno told his 6 children first. His decision to join the Senate race was “dependent on whether or not they would have issues with it.” Being a politician’s son, Diokno said he knew how politics could turn their lives upside down. ADVOCACY
Human rights
“Hindi pa ba kayo nadala sa nangyari sa’tin noong Martial Law (Haven’t we had enough with happened during Martial Law)?” Chel said.
Have we forgotten about our history that we had a president who placed himself as a dictator)?” he added.
We should have term limits. Even the relatives of the incumbents should be covered by term limits),” he said. [5]
