A Small learning community (SLC) also known as a career cluster is a program of academic instruction generally used in a secondary/high school setting. Multiple SLCs within a school will divide the student population into groups which share a common curriculum, often sharing the same teachers and student members from grade to grade. SLCs are generally implemented as a reform process where previous instruction methods have failed.
