Voice synthesis software are of two types, Speech synthesis software and Musical voice synthesis software

Speech synthesis software

Assistive Speech synthesis software are used to supplement or replace reading for individuals with severe visual impairments, enabling them to verbally communicate with the computer.

AI assistant software are capable of handling small tasks through verbal communication. Examples are Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Samsung Bixby, etc.

Musical voice synthesis software

Musical voice synthesis software are used to create a singing voice meant to supplement or replace singing. Examples are Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid and Antares' Harmony Engine Evo.

Musical voice synthesis has given rise to virtual idols such as Hatsune Miku, and programed dancing software such as MikuMikuDance.
