Hardcore is a video game developed by DICE in 1994 for the Amiga, Sega Genesis, and Sega CD consoles, but was not ultimately released until 2019.

Development

DICE developed Hardcore for the Amiga, Sega Genesis, and Sega CD consoles in 1994 but the game's publisher, Psygnosis, ultimately canceled the game's release in anticipation of poor sales. With the then-upcoming release of the 32-bit PlayStation console, Psygnosis expected sales for 16-bit Sega Genesis games to wane. Before its cancellation, Hardcore appeared in video game magazines. A few videos of its gameplay also leaked over the years.[1]

Game publisher Strictly Limited announced plans to release the retro game for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2019. Later, retro console developer Analogue announced that the game would be bundled with its upcoming Mega SG console, a high-end hardware simulation of the original Sega Genesis with added high-definition audiovisual features, set for release in April 2019.[1]
