A child inherits the hereditary material or DNA from both parents.Genes,stretches of DNA on the chromosome, dictate the whole course of development of the embryo into the foetus.Not only inherited hereditary changes dictate development but also changes acquired in the DNA through environmental exposure play a role in development. The nucleus,the brain of the cell which could be compared to a computer is instrumental in controlling vital cellular processes that take place during the crucial nine month when the mother is pregnant with her baby.
