Background

This is a fantastic article! Would it be possible to add some historical context and background as to the satellite's development? --Neopeius (talk) 16:12, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Documentation might be a little hard to come by. The closest I know of is something I wrote before launch:

http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ace_mission.html#background . Is that the sort of information you think would be useful? I could elaborate, especially on the Real-Time Solar Wind implementation which became a national asset. But a lot of that information would be "oral tradition".
