Non-free former logos being used in an image gallery in Sat.1#Logos. Non-free files. are almost never allowed to be used in an image gallery per WP:NFG because the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is almost never provided. A gallery of former logos, in particular, almost always just shows the logos without without any corresponding relevant sourced commentary about the evolution of the organization's branding, etc. provided in the article. This seems to be the case here.
It is, however, possible that these might be considered to be too simple to be eligible for copyright protection either as {{PD-logo}} or {{PD-ineligible-USonly}}. Two of the former logos being used in the gallery are File:Sat 1 Logo 1980.svg and File:Sat.1-mit-Namenszusatz.svg. The first file is a Commons file (PD-textlogo) and the other one is a local Wikipedia file (PD-ineligible-USonly). So, if the consensus is that the other former logos (as well as the infobox logo File:SAT.1 logo 2016.png) can be converted to either one of these licenses, then all the non-free content use issues will be resolved. The question is whether the 3D ball imagery falls below c:COM:TOO US; it's kinda close in my opinion, so I'd like to hear what some others think.
If none of these can be converted to a PD license, then they fail WP:NFC#cite_note-4, WP:NFCC#8 and even WP:NFCC#3a in the case of File:SAT.1 ball logo 2016.png since it's basically the infobox logo without the "Sat.1"; therefore, I suggest delete for all except the main infobox logo currently being used unless someone is able to address the non-free content use issues, particularly the WP:NFC#cite_note-4 problem for the former logos. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:34, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello,
Editors discussed (in 2009, and in 2014) about the appropriate image for the character. The result is File:Link (Hyrule Historia).png since Link has different incarnations. There are now two images showing an adult Link. File:Link Super Smash Bros Ultimate.png does not indicate how it meets WP:NFCC#3a for this situation nor why its appropriate for the character to not be in his iconic green tunic. In response to the latest discussion, I would like further input. « Ryūkotsusei » 02:20, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- Keep, Link's Breath of the Wild incarnation isn't included in the collage image. Other characters with multiple incarnations, such as Zelda and Ganondorf, do not have a collage image for their article but rather an individual version. For the sake of consistency, Link should remain the same; keeping one in carnation as the hero image while showing the collage further down to indicate his different appearances solves that purpose while keeping the article visually cleaner and more consistent. USPS stuff is copyright post 1978 - c:Commons:Stamps/Public_domain#United_States Ronhjones (Talk) 20:36, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- I understand that to be about the stamp, not the postmark crossing it out. In this case, the stamp is only there to show the postmark location and is not the subject of the picture. Yakatz (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- I emailed the USPS Rights and Permissions office for their opinion. Yakatz (talk) 22:11, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Why are we hosting 120 slightly different versions of this image? The laughably-insufficient non-free use rationale doesn't explain. — fourthords | =Λ= | 23:21, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- As i remember from the conversion with the uploader, the image is obtained from the official site http://dukope.com/ (well, the image itself was hosted elsewhere). The original is gif, and the size of the image in wikipedia, was reduced. So, may be convert to png and leave only one frame? Matthew hk (talk) 23:29, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- I reduced this one (as it was a large animated gif and my bot cannot reduce an animated gif). We don't really have a policy on NFC animated gifs, they probably get classed as videos. Maybe we need to clarify the situation at WP:NFC - here's all the one's I've reduced User:Ronhjones/AniGif - some of these might surprise... Personally, I don't really see a need for any animated GIF in NFC. There are more animated gif files than just my list, they won't be easy to find - there's no Api call I've found to pick them out - one might have to get all 13,721 NF gif files and then count the frames (that's how my bot works out it's an animated gif).
