RAIL 2050 VISION: The Backbone of INDIAN mobility.
Rail transport previously plays a very important role in supporting Indian’s society, developing its economy, and shielding its environment.[1] It has the potential to give much more. Rail is in a privileged stage to become the backbone of an intermodal “Mobility as services” for commuter and “delivery as a service” for commodities.[2]
Rail Vision 2050:
In 2050, rail transport in INDIA is the backbone of an intermodal “Mobility as a Service” within towns and outside, for both commuter and commodities, meeting the requirements of commuter, INDIAN towns and society.[2] The dealers and service associations of the Indian railway are known as the world’s thought leader for railway product and services.
Rail- A massively valuable asset for India:
Indian’s railway system is the heart of its mobility, serving the journey wants of its citizens and playing a key role in the allocation of the goods which they purchase and utilize. Rail uses and promotes the progress of skilled labour, serving as a catalyst for economic development whose worth is often underestimated: Indeed, the involvement made by rail is larger than that of either the air zone.[3]
The greenest form of transport:
Rail transport is recognised as the most environmentally responsive from mass transport.[4] It is completely integrated with other green modes of individual transport for shorter distances, such as bicycling. Its sustainability arrives from its low stages of atmospheric emissions compared to automotive and air transport. Rail’s carbon footprint is dramatically smaller than those of other forms of transport.[5] Technical innovation in railway has led to considerable upgrading; for example, regenerative braking is more energy efficient, which decreases both price and environmental harm.
Skilled workforce:
INDIAN rail mobility is maintained by a skilled workforce, that daily carries maintenance, actions, planning and services, to the advantage of India’s citizens and economy. Never the less, major modifies are affecting this workforce: on the one hand, some 30% is waiting for to retire in the next 10 year and on the last hand, there is a requirement to ensure that skills and competencies are brought in to accompany the most important transformation method driven by research and innovation.[6]
Increasing urbanisation and INDIAN competitiveness:
The growing speed of urbanization will dramatically raise the demand for well-organized and sustainable transport answers. The only rail can react to the scale of this challenge, being the only form with the flexibility to serve significantly increased commuter and cargo quantity while minimizing detrimental impacts on the overall urban system.[7] In this context, overall changing needs and stages of demand want rail to make a step modify in its attractiveness and competitiveness, leveraging its power as a sustainably integrated stage with other forms to offer mobility answers, including for the ‘last mile’.
Indian rail transport in 2050:
Confronted with difficult systemic challenges, Indian people have leveraged its substantial industrial and human capital and changed itself into the region whose citizens enjoy unprecedented life and job opportunities.
Now in 2050, the Indian rail zone is a principal mediator of this social and economic revolution and an integral element of the new Indian industrial base: through the use of breakthrough technologies, it has become a natural extension of the citizens’ work and leisure environment, providing the backbone of Indian mobility.[10][11]
Innovation to deliver the vision -
Digitalisation.[12][1] Distributed cognitive computing[13]. Robotics.[14] Distributed ledgers.[15]
A railway serving society –
Efficient and hurdle free interchanges among transport forms allow for safe, reliable and smooth trips, optimised overall existing transportation infrastructure and dynamically regulated to traffic and service situations.
Logistics
Goods transport units can speak with one more as well as with infrastructure and operational facilities, minimising downtime.[18]
Smart cities
Rail is the spine of urban mobility, with intelligent stations at the heart of smart cities, being places to work, live and exchange a few words.[19] This requires a clear and solid urban progress strategy with a long time vision to make coherent transport policies.
