Extended matching items (EMI) is an examination method similar to multiple choice questions.

The main fetures of a EMI is that instead of being asked to identify the correct (or incorrect) statement on a list, the examinee is presented with a set of questions following a theme, along with a usually larger set of answers, depending on the design of the test, one answer may correspond to multiple questions.

Example

  • This organelle stores the genetic information of an eukaryotic cell.
  • This organelle synthesises polypeptides using information provided by mRNA.
  • This organelle, found in plants, contains chlorophyll.
