Mavatar Technologies, Inc. is the developer of the mCart omnichannel commerce platform.[1] Mavatar is headquartered in Menlo Park, California.[2]

History

Mavatar was founded in 2011 by Susan Akbarpour and Brom Mahbod.[3] The company was developed to bring fragmented retail experiences onto one platform.[2][4] Akbarpour began conceptualizing the company while doing research as a graduate student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.[5][6]

Mavatar has raised over $4.3 million in funding via angel investors, venture capital, and private sales of an initial coin offering that began in December 2017.[7][8]

In June 2018, Mavatar announced that it is licensing its software to the FX Group, the marketing partner for award shows like the Grammy Awards and the Emmys.[1][9] Award show viewers will be able to purchase content that they see at the award shows on the mCart platform.[1][10]

mCart Platform

Mavatar Technologies has developed mCart, a software platform as a service (PaaS).[11] The mCart platform connects retailers and content creators to create shoppable content and allows consumers to shop directly from that content.[12][13] mCart smart shopping carts also offer users coupons and discounted prices.[14]

mCart uses the mCart token, which employs Ethereum-backed smart contracts to pay influencers and mCart marketplace operators for the sales that they influence.[15][16]
