Some of the linked articles (at least Hamming code) contain information that should be moved here.

RAM

[edit]

Since ECC is a term used to describe every stick of RAM currently available (they're all marketed as either "ECC" or "non-ECC", there needs to be a section discussing what it means and how it works; many people will look up ECC on wikipedia just to figure out what exactly it means for their RAM purchase they're considering. Is there a performance penalty; what's the realistic benefit to the consumer; how often does the ECC of the RAM really kick in; price differences; what ECC technique is being used. Well that sounds interesting, however its just application oriented, and maybe somebody(who knows!) needs to write a note on that.--பராசக்தி 01:04, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

So, that means there should be an article (or better, a section in a RAM article) on ECC RAM, but I do agree this one should be merged, RAM issues nonwithstanding. --Arny 22:17, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
