Cloud file transfer refers to the partial or complete migration of data from one cloud storage provider account to another. Cloud file transfer, sometimes referred to as cloud storage migration, is different from traditional cloud migration. In cloud file transfer, only users and data are migrated. The technology makes switching between cloud storage services easy.

Technology

Cloud file transfer providers use OAuth protocol to gain access to users’ source and destination cloud accounts. They then use their secure and high-speed servers to transfer data from one cloud storage service to another.

Manual Migration vs. Software-Based Migration

Cloud storage users can migrate their data manually if the data consists of just files and folders. However, when it comes to migrating users, they must use a third-party cloud file transfer service for complete migration files, folders, and user permissions.

Connectors

A connector is nothing but a consumer or enterprise cloud storage service. Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc. are some of the leading consumer connectors. Cloudian, Axway, and SharePoint are examples of enterprise connectors.

Leading Cloud File Transfer Providers

According to TechRadar[1], CloudFuze, Cloudsfer, CloudHQ, Mover, and MultCloud are leading consumer and enterprise cloud storage migration specialists.
