The Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS) was founded in 1996 as a non-profit organization to pioneer innovative anti-spam technology. The organization is probably best known for its real-time blackhole list (RBL); it also offers a Transport Security Initiative (TSI), Dialup Users List (DUL) and Relay Spam Stopper (RSS).

In June of 2005, Trend Micro, Inc. acquired Kelkea, Inc. the parent company of MAPS.
