Japanese Rail Sim (鉄道にっぽん! 路線たび Tetsudō Nippon! Rosen Tabi) is a train simulator video game series, developed by Sonic Powered and first released in 2013 in Japan. The games use real-life footage and takes place on existing railways across Japan.
Gameplay
The game simulates the job of a railroad engineer, driving the local railway and/or monorail throughout . With a handle called the “Master Controller” and a brake, which can be operated by both buttons and the touch screen. The player has to drive safely, pay attention to the signs and be on time in order to achieve a good score. While playing, information about attractions and sightseeing spots will be unlocked.

The first game in the series, making its debut in both Japan and North America, is located on the Nagaragawa Railway in Gifu Prefecture. Although the original Japanese version contained the whole 72.1 km long railway in one game, it was split into 4 parts for the North American release.[1] Volume 1 is from Mino-Ōta Station to Minoshi station, volume 2 is from Minoshi station to Minami-Kariyasu station, volume 3 is from Minami-Kariyasu station to Yamada station and volume 4 is from Yamasa station to the end point, Hokunō station.[2]

The second installment in North America and the first installment of the series released in Europe takes place on the Eizan Electric Railway in Kyoto and features a night mode.[3][4]

Just like Journey in Suburbs #1, his is the second game not yet released in Europe. This game takes place on the Kashima Rinkai Railway in Ibaraki Prefecture.[7]

Travel of Steam
This game takes place in the Oigawa Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture driving a steam locomotive (JNR Class C11 Type-No.190). The Japanese version was a collaboration with Thomas the Tank Engine and features a “Play with Thomas” mode, however, this was left out from the North American and European release.[8][9][10]
