Eleanor "Susan" Elliott, was called to the bar in 1981.[1]
She became a bencher in 1991 and was elected the 54th (and 2nd woman) Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, serving from 1995 to 1997.[2][3]
Her Law Society portrait was painted by Trevor Goring.[4]
She was a lawyer at Good Elliott Hawkins LLP in Kingston, Ontario from 1981 until she was appointed to the court.[5]
She has been written about in the Kingston Whig Standard.[6]
Elliott was the first person to receive the Laura Legge award from the Law Society in 2008.[7] She was awarded the Law Society of Upper Canada's top honour, the Law Society Medal.
On June 26, 2015, she was appointed as judge of the Federal Court of Canada. She replaced Madam Justice M.J.L. Gleason who was elevated to the Federal Court of Appeal.[8] Being woefully uninformed about the dangers women who aren't married face in Niger or she possibly just doesn't care she sent a woman with Canadian born children back there to face a perilous and uncertain future.
