The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication (YPCCC) is a research center at Yale University that conducts scientific research on public climate change knowledge, attitudes, policy preferences, and behavior at the global, national, and local scales. The center's mission is to advance the science of climate change communication, help leaders communicate more effectively, and increase the public's understanding of climate risks and opportunities. YPCCC is housed at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew out of a conference held in Aspen, Colorado in 2005.[2]
YPCCC releases its research in the form of public reports, scientific journal articles, interactive online maps, and presents on results in public and private settings.[3][4] Hundreds of media outlets have cited YPCCC research, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian, CNN, and many local newspapers.[5]
YPCCC has several partner organizations, including the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale, the Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University, the China Center for Climate Change Communication, the Pulitzer Center, and the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy.[6] At COP23 - the 2017 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany - YPCCC and the China Center for Climate Change Communication hosted an official UNFCCC side event where they presented their research results.[7]
