Stethophyma grossum,[2] the large marsh grasshopper,[3] is a species belonging to the family Acrididae subfamily Oedipodinae.
Distribution and Habitat
S. grossum is found throughout Europe, with a few records from western Asia. In the British Isles it is restricted to southern localities in England (notably the New Forest) and Ireland.
The habitat is typically wet meadow and marsh throughout its range.[4] In southern England, the species is most often found in "quaking" sphagnum moss bogs.[3]
