The Thameslink Programme, formerly known as Thameslink 2000 is a much delayed series of improvements to the Thameslink north-south cross-London rail system.

Principal works

The principal works, north to south are:

King's Cross Thameslink station will be closed and replaced with a new station at under St Pancras station called St Pancras Midland Road. The new station will accept 12 car trains (the present station is limietd to 8 cars), allow better interchange with other transport, particularly Eurostar. It will also have modern disabled access, etc. Funding for this may come not as part of the Thameslink deal but for the CTRL deal.

Farringdon & Moorgate branch

Farringdon station is limited to 8 cars, but will be extended eastwards to take 12. This will cut off the access to the Moorgate branch.
