Wikipedia Weekly Episode 3.0 - Wikipedia.... anywhere...
The Panel
Currently, It's planned that we make a conference on Skype, which works up to ten folks, but for practical purposes four is about ideal.
Those signing up should be experienced with previous episodes, and be regular listeners of other podcasts.

Discussion
What should our main focus be for the week?
Sex, drugs, rock and roll? North Korea? Food! #wikipedia IRC room— Preceding unsigned comment added by Buickid (talk • contribs)
The main focus will be an interview with Matt Swann and Offline Wikipedia content, such as Wikipedia CD, Webaroo, etc. - Zero1328 Talk? 06:21, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Correct pronounciation of 'Wikipedia'
Well, after some flaming about how it's pronounced after it was spoken aloud, I think we should hire CableModem (who I think has skype) to say it the right way, seeing as the word is derived from Hawaiian, and he is living in Hawaii. :DMichael Billington (talk • contribs) 09:27, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- But he says "Weaky". It's "Whicky"! – Gurch 13:26, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- The opinions of a number of Wiktionary people can be heard here and especially here. The variations in the latter are pretty wide. In general, the pronunciation of a word ultimately has to do with how people gravitate towards saying it rather than necessarily how it is "supposed to" be said, particularly for loan words. Thus, many words that English borrows from French no longer sound the same at all. Compare the pronunciations, for instance, on brouhaha or lieutenant. —Dvortygirl 14:56, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Agenda
This is the basic layout of how the episode is planned to move along.
Time of Recording
[to be announced]
Introduce the panel
That'd be the speakers listed above. Each person says what they'd like to about themselves, and we move on.
News
Go through any recent news (for instance, any major headlines we see). Each person on the panel introduces at least one item, if possible, which the rest then talk about - so, everyone speaks equally, and we have a chance to properly talk things through. I guess each item could have a few minutes' discussion, or as much as we think it can take before it gets boring.
If we have time or nothing of interest, reading and discussing some articles on the Signpost may attract more people to read it.
Some suggested items for Episode 2:
- Pokémon FAs
- Systemic bias at Wikipedia?
- wearesmarter.org/ <--- what is this about? :)
- Delphine's suggestion: "overview and insider views of Wikimedia projects and insiders' views into other languages wikipedias"
- Seth Ilys' Dot Project
- Wikipedia's reliability in schools
- MyWikiBiz
- The Wikipedia account of a business selling its services in creating Wikipedia articles was blocked by Jimbo Wales, after a truce over the ethical concerns involved broke down. User:MyWikiBiz has been blocked indefinitely, and Wales deleted two of the articles created as a result. - commentfrom Jimbo would be nice on this

Special focus (Matt Swann and Offline Wikipedia)
There are various forms of Wikipedia offline, and we'll have Matt Swann to talk about WikiPod, Wikipedia on the iPod.(Swann's blog post). Other offline Wikipedias include Wikipedia CD, TomeRaider, and Webaroo.
Anything else
If anybody provides some particularly interesting feedback, or one of us has anything cool to say, we'd say it here. Who knows? It might be interesting, if we ever have anything to say. :)
The World According to Wikipedia
This would be a quick, light-hearted discussion of any particularly funny page-rankings we see on The Top 100 pages at Wikipedia. There's at least two or three minutes' worth of humour in that. :)
