Other comments ?as a disabled person on a limited budget i would have liked to see what i have given so far.I was planning to try to increase my donation every month somehow even though I am in desperate need of an electric wheelchair Wiki has become a friend to me and I am wanting to help you since you need me..i can always use my broken old manual chair until i save enough up...and i am only giving you some of what I am saving each month..i will try to give more by somehow cutting corners...maybe one less meal a day.i get 5$/day for food...if i save up I can try to give you more..I don't want you to close..I will do anything I can..just please link my email addresses..i use the same one here for my account as I do the account i donated from...i need the info to show my progress with you...i'll do all i can!

I am trying to find out how to contribute a page. This tells me how to edit a page. Is making an initial contribution intended to be a secret? One line of instruction is all that I need. Can't find it.

This page is very helpful. Before I attempt to write about individuals I also perform some sort of research and Wikipedia is the first place I look.

Ms. Williams Wikipedia page was created long before her search for employment. Her page has been up since 2008. She is well known in the community and well respected. While she continues her civic duties she is also completing her masters at Georgetown University. Ms. Williams has gained a great number of alies in her profession and I'm positive that her page was created to give people a larger scope of her accomplishments and skill set in the market place. I'm surprised to see that one wouldn't appreciate being directed to a more established and reliable source when learning about such a professional individual.

Can you tell me please if i could add an entry which relates to an form of therapy i have invented. I am an NLP Practitioner and I have my own therapy technique which is unique to me and I am hoping it will become popular. I am aware I cannot promote myself or my business but I would like to enter the therapy name so if people were to search or come across it then they could read what its about. I would only like to enter my name as being the inventor of the therapy and a brief explanation as to what it is. I would not enter any links etc to websites. I suppose it would be like if someone entered the search “internet” the guy who invented it would be included in the info? Any help or advice would be great. Many thanks TunnyG

I have photos I'd like to ad to the "Joe West (umpire file) ...the picture of Joe Morgan batting with Jody Davis catching has another umpire in the picture.. that's not Joe West. I also have pictures of the West Vest umpire's chest protector that he designed. I'm not able to change the pictures please advise. I also have a picture that is evident that the balks he called on Mark Buehrle were correct and I can't put them on the page ... it would vendicate West of the criticisms of Buehrle, Guillen, and the smart mouth Curt Schilling.

If you want my messages signed, I don't mind having all my messages signed when I am logged in. But, don't expect me to remember all the fine details of how your system operates. Its a system. If you want things signed, then I respectfully suggest that you either build it into your system or - if you want to give people the ability to "talk" without signing - provide it as an optional part of your system that all messages submitted when a user is logged in be automatically signed in the format and with the information you want.

  • In the "Total edit count" section, the first wikilink, labeled "user profile", points to Help:Preferences#User_profile, which doesn't exist... It doesn't exist as page section, I mean: clicking on the link just lands one at Help:Preferences which, despite the claim made in the "Total edit count" section of Help:User_contributions doesn't actually provide access to one's total edit count at all.   • Can a user be prevented from editing his/her work-in-progress contribution? Apparently I was, bit I don't

  • For the most part, though I think what I didn't understand is due to my lack of knowledge when it comes to computers and codes, whatever it's called.

  • As a beginner yes, because I know I can get more detail if I wanted to, but as a starting point it was good enough for me to have stayed on and read the whole thing. Too much info/details can be dizzying for amateurs like myself.
How can we make it better ?
  • Let us practice, practice, practice, and don't get mad if we fudge up. BTW, I really like the fact that Wikipedia has such tolerable standards for dealing with newbies, and sensible, positive approaches to other areas of possible conflict. Well-thought out.

  • I don't know who the hell thought about creating this whole WIKI concept, but what a vision is compared to actually getting it organized and going, that's the shits.   • WIkipedia should be organized by concept maps. There should be some sort of tree where information is represented visually, for example fluid dynamics is under fluid mechanics, which is under continuum mechanics, which is under classical mechanics, which is under physics. Organizing subject matter visually and succinctly can make any body of knowledge less intimidating, and ultimately more useful to the public at large. As an autodidact it is sometimes very difficult jump into a new field for this reason. With this type of change, nearly anyone could build incredible expertise in nearly any field, whether it's physics or fine art.

  • I have one idea which can suit to you peoples only I think you must make wikipedia an online Book, I mean to say wiki is freely available and user can register also but there must be following further facilities :

1. User can mark (Bookmark / [or make] notes / highlight) text which seem important to them so it serves as their personal highlighted book as they Log In. 2. Socially wiki pages sharing must be introduced so that I can grant my highlighting permissions to my friends and than we can also view it and vice-versa.

Sometimes we needn't read whole lot of page to revise the things just reading highlighted text is enough so kindly append this in wiki's heart.  :)

Page is helpful not bad it's good and awesome but my request is please add a Tamil language in wiki it will be helpful for so many students more clearly understand stand in English easly and so easy and happy to use that word and they won't forgot the words. If you think that this page does any good at all, then you're kidding yourself. No one will find it, and no one that actually works at Wikipedia will read it. And if they do, there's zero (as in really, ZERO) chance that any good will become of it. Wikipedia has gone no where near far enough with their "office actions", their office actions should include the punting of "anything goes because we're not censored" crap (yes ejaculation video grunts, I'm talking about you idiots), and the perceived strength of wikipedia being the community has always been its weakness, because the community can be generalized as bunch of fucktards.
Other than that though, wikipedia is great. (eye roll) But complaining about people not treating this page with respect? Piss in the wind downwind from me please. Why? Oh, because "wikipedia isn't censored". "Community"....yeah right.   • SO; I don't know what page this is going to "feed back" on, but here we go. I think it would be a great feature for users to be able to save certain pages. For example, I very thoroughly the page on the Dannebrog. I don't want to add yet another page to my "Odd Sites" folder, and I know I'll want to read it again. Best,

Wikipedia is unspeakably user-unfriendly, a navigation nightmare to do anything except find an encyclopedia subject page or edit it for grammar and spelling. After 20 minutes wasted searching Wikipedia, I used Google to find this page. Wikipedia is easily the most complicated website I have ever experienced, and except for those few simple things aforementioned, hopeless to find your way around in. It is obviously only for computer geeks to edit, manage, and control, a real pain in the ass.

Why is Wikipedia so GD technical? I ran across the acronym GIF for the first time today and wanted to find out what a GIF is. The Wikipedia page is one solid mass of technical gibberish. To find out that it's a kind of compressed file for images and video, good for making a loop -- that I learned elsewhere because Wikipedia doesn't say WTF a GIF is in any way that non-computer-nerd-geek myself could understand at all. And it's not just the GIF page. If there's a technical way to describe and explain any subject to, by and for people with university science and engineering degrees, that's the way Wikipedia prefers to do it, not for us simple and ignorant non-tekkies. On the "Gravity" page, for instance, the everyday experience that gravity is the force that makes things fall downward and roll and flow downhill goes unmentioned, but by ¶2 Wikipedia is already telling us about Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and gravity. Great. The following should be a rule for every page about a technical or scientific subject: START SIMPLE; begin with a one-sentence explanation that a kid of 12 of average intelligence can understand. AFTER explaining that a "Star" is one of those specks of light in the night sky, there will be plenty of room to explain that it's a "a luminous sphere of plasma held together by its own gravity", Wikipedia's starting point. My Gravity and Star examples aren't so great maybe, because everybody knows the simple explanations; that's not true for GIF or other technical stuff. Everybody who ever invented some high-tech gizmo or process and wanted it to make him rich had to explain it in one sentence of monosyllables in his pitch to the money guy he wanted to finance him, so I know tekkies, with just a little effort, can speak to us dumbbells so we can understand WTF they are talking about. If you read this, please respond to convince me I'm not just writing a note in a bottle. It says below "Sign your posts on talk pages". Is this a "talk page"? I am rprojansky at centurylink.net

why does the refugee page NOT include the number of refugees under the mandate of the UNRWA. Palestinian refugees are run under a different agency than the UNHRC. It is WRONG to list refugees solely using the UNHRC. Take a look at their web sites and they acknowledge that they are not the total count of refugees. Even look at Amnesty International and they explain their refugee count is based on only the UNHRC and that there are over 5.1 million Palestinian refugees being taken care of by the UNRWA.

Please add the 5.1 million Palestinian refugess to your refugee list.

Objection against locked pages

I haven’t edited in many years. I recently noticed that many pages are now locked and cannot be edited unless you contact a moderator. In my opinion this violates the basic premise on which wikipedia was founded; a direct democracy for the people by the people. I don’t like the idea that a handful of editors are now in control of all the content. What are you trying to become? Google? What is next? Ads? I find this a troublesome development.
