The first sentence is misleading and wrong, at least from a historical perspective. Shared Variables were a means which an APL program could communicate with an external service (file system - TSIO, AP110, screen and graphics processors - AP124, AP126; IBM DB2 - AP127) and where one timesharing session task could communicate with another. 193.8.106.45 (talk) 16:06, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
