The Folded Diamond or Parclo A4 road junction are currently superceding the cloverleaf interchanges.

One problem with cloverleafs is that large transport trucks that exceeded the usual 25 MPH (40 km/h) speed limit too frequently rolled over the side. ("Overturned big-rig on the ramp to..." was and remains a common traffic report on radio.) The United States Department of Transportation [1] has been implementing a new interchange design with more straight exits than the cloverleaf interchanges. The Ontario, Canada 400-Series Highways [2] were among the first to add the new-style interchanges, phasing out the cloverleafs. The standard interchange used on 400-Series Highways, the Parclo A4, was designed by Ontario's Ministry of Transportation to replace the cloverleaf interchange and has since become the standard interchange used on new freeways throughout North America.
