Abdelaziz Bougja is the President of Rugby Africa, the administrative body for rugby union in Africa since 2002. He is a French citizen of Moroccan descent, who has been living in France for more than 30 years. Bougja is member of the World Rugby Audit & Risk and Regulations committees and a member of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation (FRMR).[1] He is also the current Vice-president of the French Association of Travel Management (Template:Lang-fr), the first French organization that represents corporate travel managers.[2][3] During his career, he has been the travel representative of the French company Veolia Environment[4] and President of the “think tank” Marco Polo.
From 1975 to 1982, Bougja attended University of Toulouse and University of Paris Dauphine. He graduated from these universities and received a state diploma in accounting expertise. He joined the school of rugby of the defunct Club Olympique de Casablanca. Most of Bougja's career has been devoted to the development of rugby in Africa.[5][6][7]
In April 2002, Bougja was elected head of the Cameroon Rugby Association at the time African rugby had only 6 teams. Following a World Rugby Council vote for hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Bougja did not paint a picture of harmonious relationship between his organization and South Africa Rugby.[8][9][10][11]
