Introduced in the early 1990s, the Micro Solutions Backpack was a device allowing users to attach a peripheral drive, namely hard drives[1], CD-ROM drives[2], and DVD±RW drives[3], to their system. Since USB ports did not exist, this drive plugged into a system's printer port[1]. Backpacks could be daisy-chained and still allow for printer usage[1].
