Hello, reading the guide I wonder why a GLAM staff should hide away its real identity. Wouldn't it be better to openly communicate who I am?--Barbara Fischer (WMDE) (talk) 13:05, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New article

This page seems to assume that making a new article is the purpose of joining our efforts. That's okay at an edit-a-thon where coaches can ensure that it is done properly. Most newbies, however, have no such support. Even the ones who do, ought to be encouraged to seek initial experience by improving existing articles. The lonely majority of beginners ought not get a hint that they can start a new one, lest they be discouraged by probable rejection. Jim.henderson (talk) 21:59, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I brought this into line with WP:ACTRIAL; new editors should use AfC in any case.

I generalized this in other ways, and took out references to "your" article and steered people away from the WP:OWN path that this guidance set people on. Jytdog (talk) 18:34, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
