The EPS Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Prize has been introduced in 2017 by the European Physical Society (EPS).

The 2017 winners of the prize[1] are Itamar Procaccia and Peter Grassberger.

  • Itamar Procaccia is an Israeli physicist known for his work on Fractal Phenomena. Professor Procaccia is also chair of the Commission C3 (Statistical Physics) of IUPAP the international Union of Pure and Applied Physics.
  • Peter Grassberger is an Austrian physicist who started his career as particle physicist and lately devoted his activity to the study of statistical physics.

Both are known for their joint studies on strange attractors in the study of Deterministic Chaos.[2]
