Kawa Kawa and its stimulatory actions

Boiled tea of Kawa Kawa is known to be a potent aphrodisiac, enhancing endurance, libido and even discomfort due to aching muscles. This maybe a combination effect from the eugenol (upwards of 70% of the essential oil), perhaps piperine(sp?) components and even maybe something analogous to the kava lactones.

Kawa kawa is colloquially called New Zealand Kava.

Insect holes

My understanding is that only one variety (excelsum?) is commonly full of insect holes and that is the one that is safe to consume because the hole-free variety (majus?) is toxic to insects and humans. But I don't have a reference --Hugh7 (talk) 06:53, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
