WBXML
Appearance
WAP Binary XML (WBXML) is a binary representation of XML. Its goal is to allow XML documents to be transmitted in a compact manner over mobile networks. It is an Open_Mobile_Alliance standard inherited from it's affiliate WapForum. It is proposed as an addition to the World Wide Web Consortium's Wireless Application Protocol family of standards.
WBXML is used by a number of mobile phones. Usage includes SyncML for transmitting address book and calendar data, Wireless_Markup_Language, Wireless_Village, OMA_DRM for it's rights language and Over-the-air_programming for sending network settings to a phone.
