FUSE is the Filesystem in Userspace Linux kernel module from the A Virtual Filesystem (AVFS) project. According to the project's website, "With FUSE a userspace program can export a filesystem through the Linux kernel". FUSE allows developers to write new Linux filesystem drivers without doing any kernel programming.
