ABOUT SSIET: Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 1999 with B.E & B.TECH courses in Automobile, Bio-Technology, CSC, Civil, ECE, EEE, IT, Mechanical engineering under the aegis of A.M.Kanniappa Mudaliar and A.M.K Jambulinga Mudaliar Educational Trust with the objective of imparting quality education to students with all facilities and infrastructure. SSIET is located on the Chennai-Bangalore Highway (3 Km From Poonamallee) at Chembarambakkam.
In addition to these, PG courses such as M.E. in Computer Science & Engineering, Communication Systems, Construction Engineering & Management, Thermal Engineering, Power Electronics & Drives, Structural Engineering, VLSI Design, Master of Technology – (Bio-Technology) and MBA.
Research Courses: MS (By Research) Bio-Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical Engineering. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— VISION: Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology has the vision to realise. MISSION: The Management of SSIET has taken on the mission to •Provide the necessary infrastructure to support an institute of excellence; •Foster and grow an academic team to cater to the ever increasing demands of the student community; •Motivate the students, the faculty and the stakeholders to utilise the facilities provided; •Augment all available avenues to develop students for the changing needs of the society, and •Finally to develop SSIET into the international institute of excellence. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— CHAIRMAN: Karthikeyan-chairman Prof. J.Karthikeyan B.E. has widely travelled and has a hand on exposure in running Industrial Units and is equally exposed to running and organising academic Institutions. A Member of 17 Professional and Scientific Societies, has attended numerous Conferences / Seminars on Education, Leadership, Management and Industry. He was on Special Educational Mission to Singapore, Malaysia in April 2007 and later to China (Beijing, Shenyang and Shanghai in June 2007. He has also attended an International Conference on “Assuring the Quality of National and Transnational Higher Educational Programs: an International Perspective”.
PRINCIPAL: Dr. V.R. Sampath is a highly learned man. He obtained his undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. degree from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. He has very rich experience both in the field of academic and in the industry. Dr. V.R. Sampath began his career in the industry in 1982, when he was appointed as Assistant Spinning Master at Super Spinning Mills Ltd., Andrapradesh. His hard work and his perseverance brought him many distinctive positions including Production and Quality Officer, Quality Controller and Standard Engineer in various well-reputed industries. Our institution encourages all students and staff members to make the best use of the library that has been carefully built up since the inception of the college. The library is housed in a spacious area of 500 sq.m., fully computerised and air-conditioned with Reference Section, Magazine Section and Stack Area. Presently there are more than 35970 books and reference volumes stacked for the benefit of staff and students. There is an established media resource centre. Our library follows the open access system and is encouraging students to browse in the stack area. The library subscribes more than 100 specialised journals, over one-third of them being international. We are also a member of INDEST-AICTE Consortium, British Council Library, Anna University Library Constant addition of titles and volumes in all the fields of Engineering, Management, Basic Science and Humanities is the regular feature of our library. Every effort has been made to obtain all titles recommended by the faculty. Newspapers, weekly and fortnightly magazines of repute are subscribed to enable the students to keep abreast of day-to-day trends. The library comprises of an Audio-Visual section equipped with video cassettes and CDs. We are having Bar-coding and Internet connectivity. One Xerox machine has been provided for taking copies from the library itself. In addition to all general services, the central library provide value added services including OPAC, Book Bank, Book Reservation, Audio-video viewing, Inter Library Lab, Access to e-resources ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— PLACEMENT CELL: The specific objectives of the Placement Cell are to: •Create awareness among students regarding available career options and help them in identifying their career objectives. •Guide the students in developing, Enhancing the Employability Skills and job-search strategies required to achieve their career objectives. •Identify suitable potential employers and help them achieve their hiring goals. •Organize activities concerning career planning. •Act as a bridge between students, alumni and employers. •Take feedback from industry and provide inputs for curriculum. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— RESEARCH CELL The Research, innovation and development are an inevitable process/ activity for a professional to apply and transform his/her expertise into a product/ service to the society. Research and Development is an important activity towards achieving academic excellence. Recognising this, SSIET has set up a separate Research and Development Department to develop and nurture research activities at the college. SSIET provides very supportive research environment which includes special incentives for quality publications and obtaining sponsored research funding. A Research Committee consisting of Dean-R&D, Industrial experts and all HODs reviews and monitors all research projects regularly. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— ABOUT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology alumni association was established in the year 2003. Alumni Association creates and maintains a life-long connection between the Institute and its alumni. There are more than 5500 alumni at present. The Alumni Association works towards connecting alumni, supporting students and building an unforgettable Institute experience through conducting various events, programming and services. The mission of the Association is to foster strong bonds between alumni, students and the Institute, to keep alumni informed, and create a network enabling them to remain engaged with their alma mater and help shape its future through the Association’s programmes and services.
STUDENT-ALUMNI CONTACT: Developing an active and engaged alumni network empowers both the Institute and its graduates. Our alumni are interacting with the Institute to motivate the students. Our alumni support current students by providing seminars in recent trends, share their industrial experience and industrial needs.
EVENTS: The Association organises and facilitates a host of events every year. This includes the Alumni Day which is held in the month of April of every year. Association members are also invited to campus events like Convocation Day, and other cultural events on Campus. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— MOODLE (E-LEARNING) Moodle is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments. It is a collaborative social learning platform that provides an interactive environment for improved learning outcomes. Powered by a best-in-class Learning Management System (LMS), it offers a collaborative pedagogical model to enrich participatory learning by enabling course delivery, assessment and other learning opportunities in a community setting. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— INDUSTRY-INSTITUTE PARTNERSHIP CELL (IIPC) IIPPC of the college is a dedicated cell to promote the close interaction of industry and various departments of the Institute. The IIP Cell facilitates consultancy, sponsored R&D projects and industrial and academic training those are not prescribed in the syllabus in addition to conducting industrial exhibitions and interaction meets. The initial focus of this cell was to closely interact with industries situated in and around Karnataka State and later expand the efforts to move the partnership and activities across India and Abroad. Industries and Technical Institution have a strong mutuality of interest which forms the basis of a partnership between them.
