Decimator
The Decimator is a fictional weapon that played a role in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
The Decimator is a massive mechanized unit capable of destroying land, air, and sea units. Its main offensive weaponry is a small globe, similar to a lightning globe. The globe charges up power and unleashes a tight beam, not unlike the Death Star's superlaser, and most times destroys its target at once. It also seems that this beam can be used to attack multiple opponents.
The Decimator was originally designed by the Wookiees on their colony of Alaris Prime. Prototypes were manufactured in limited quantities here, but soon the experiment was moved to the remote planet of Eredenn Prime in the Erediss system. Republic commander Kraen Weast supervised the experiment.
The operation was first discovered when Hutt operative, Bogeeda B'uday discovered the Decimator facilities, and relayed the information to his boss, Boorka the Hutt. When Count Dooku learned of Boorka's information, the General of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Sev'rance Tann, was sent to Tatooine to make a deal with Boorka. After destroying a Republic trading station, Boorka disclosed is knowledge about the Decimator. General Tann was then sent to Eredenn to capture the weapon. On Eredenn, she destroyed the decimator facilities and captured the decimators being housed there. She also killed Kraen Weast as he attempted to escape the planet. However, the Decimator was equipped with a failsafe locking mechanism that rendered the weapons useless until the activation codes could be obtained. General Tann was then sent to the Wookiee colony of Alaris Prime to obtain the codes. Using a Data Droid that had been captured from Eredenn, Sev'rance Tann was able to take control of the Decimators after the droid had deciphered the activation codes. When she reported in to Count Dooku, he ordered her to the planet of Sarapin, which supplied large amounts of power to Coruscant. With the newly-acquired Decimators, Tann had no trouble taking over the planet and even killed Jedi Commander Jor Drakas. Republic Jedi Master, General Echuu Shen-Jon later responded with a strike team, but the General was long gone.
Count Dooku had ordered Sev'rance Tann to set up Decimator foundries on the remote world of Krant. Echuu was able to track her here using information extracted by Confederacy officer Zian Finnis. Echuu led an invasion of decimator facilities on Krant as well as a Trade Federation mining outpost on Krant's moon, Aereen. The campaign on Aereen led to the death of the wealthy Trade Federation businessman Plure Barron. As Barron died, he told Echuu that he was too late and that the Decimators had already been prepared for shipment offworld. Echuu swiftly landed a strike force on Krant. Aided by some stranded Wookiees, Echuu stormed the Decimator facilities and eliminated all of the Decimator machines that the Confederacy had built, along with their factories. Echuu was confident that he had destroyed all the decimators the Confederacy had built, but it is not known whether all the Decimators were destroyed, or if some Decimator devices survived The Clone Wars.
