NEW NOMINATIONS

Category:Companies based in the National Capital Region (Canada)

Nominator's rationale: Unnecessary extra layer of categorization for two subcategories that are both already adequately categorized. Both categories are already in the appropriate city categories, which are in turn both already in Category:National Capital Region (Canada) as it is -- and both categories are also already in Category:Companies by city in Canada as well. So this is simply a superfluous path to subcategories that are already accessible from the parent categories as it is. Bearcat (talk) 23:34, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Gender-neutral games and toys

Nominator's rationale: The category has been empty for two months and the related article redirects to Children's games and toys. Brandmeistertalk 18:40, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Years in the Rome Empire

Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, as the majority of these categories contain only one article without reasonable chances of expansion.
Note 1: there are two deliberate choices involved in this nomination. The first is a merge to global year levels, rather than merging to three continent year levels. Note that most of these categories are parented to a Europe and Asia year category (I'm not sure why they are not parented to an African category). However, since Europe, Africa and Asia are the only continents in most of these ancient year categories anyway, I don't think that triplicating the content in three separate subcategories adds much value. The second choice is the merge, within the Roman Empire tree, to decade level instead of century level, and that is simply because we have enough content for most decades. One could argue however, for consistency with other countries, that we should merge to century level instead, and if this results in too crowded century categories we might diffuse the Roman Empire century categories by other criteria than by decades.
Note 2: on the talk page there is a list of container categories that naturally become empty if this merge is accepted. Though they haven't been tagged, it would be helpful if the closing admin deletes them too upon closing this discussion.
Note 3: this is a continuation of the previous discussions of June 1, June 9 and June 17. Pinging editors who participated in earlier discussions @Oculi, Tim!, Nyttend, Peterkingiron, J 1982, Neutrality, Inter&anthro, Le Deluge, and Laurel Lodged: feel free to comment on this new nomination too. Category:Ex-ex-gay people

Nominator's rationale: This has been tagged for possible inappropriate labelling of people since 2010 and indeed doesn't look useful or defining. Brandmeistertalk 12:29, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. I also left a notification at the article talk page. Thanks, Marcocapelle (talk) 07:11, 1 July 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Category:Former Roman Catholic patriarchates

Nominator's rationale: Patriarchates of Latin rite are known as "Latin patriarchates", as shown in Latin Patriarch. Grabado (talk) 06:17, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Windows 95 game covers

Nominator's rationale: It's an unnecessarily specific category. N. Harmonik (talk) 01:36, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
