Sputnik 1 EMC/EMI is laboratory model of Sputnik 1. Made to test ground Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (AMI) testing. While there are only three known EMC/EMI lab models.

Sputnik 1 EMC/EMI Lab model sold at auction

On July 20, 2016 -  A working full-scale test model of the Sputnik-1 sold at Bonhams, New York, for $220,000[1].

The model at Bonhams was one of only a small number of examples made for testing electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference. It featured a still-operational transmitter and four antennas.

  • Manufacturer: OKB-1 and NII-885 (head of the team Mikhail Ryazansky[2])
  • Introduction: February 15, 1957.
  • Number build: 3 (private U. S. collection[3] serial numbers 002 and 003[4]), Serial Number 001: Russia
