A web monkey is an amature Web Designer who stiches together snippets of code s/he found on the internet and in books and puts it together to make a web page or web application, without having an appreciation or understanding what the principles behind the code or the concept s/he is coding are.

The term is used a moniker by Web programmer to tease either amature programmers or to look down upon people who refer to themselves as Web developers or Web engineers without ever having coded a single line of program on their own - not even the - mandatory - Hello World program in HTML.
