A code monkey is an amature computer_programmer who stiches together snippets of code s/he found on the internet and in books and puts it together to make an application, without having an appreciation or understanding what the principles behind the code or the concept s/he is coding are.

the term is used a moniker from Real Programmers to tease either amature programmers or to look down upong people who refer to themselves as developers or software developers or software engineers without ever having coded a single line of program on their own - not even the - mandatory - Hello World program
