Founded in January 2016, Waterloo EDC is the investment promotion agency for Waterloo Region and the first point of contact for companies of all sectors wishing to locate, relocate or expand in our community. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, they are primarily funded by the Region of Waterloo and the seven Area Municipalities. At Waterloo EDC, the aim is to foster, support and deliver a coordinated and integrated approach to economic development in Waterloo Region. Their vision is to be locally rooted, internationally competitive and globally renowned.

Operating as a concierge service for investment attraction, Waterloo EDC offers businesses assistance in a number of ways. From assisting with introductions to business leaders within the community to providing legal, tax and accounting connections on doing business in Canada to facilitating sector collaboration, partnership, information exchange and professional events. Waterloo EDC seeks to make the experience of locating, relocating or expanding in Waterloo Region as simple as possible.

The tagline, “inventing the future” emphasizes talent, innovation, disruption and a strong bias for action, all of which represent the strengths and brand equity of Waterloo Region.
