Quantization

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by SudoMonas (talk | contribs) at 14:49, 15 April 2017 (The input to a quantization process is often not continuous (e.g., whenever digital information is compressed).). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Quantization is the process of constraining an input from a continuous or otherwise-large set of values (such as the real numbers) to a discrete set (such as the integers). It is not always distinguished from discretization in any clearly defined way.
