Downsampling

In digital signal processing, downsampling is the simple process of reducing a sequence of samples by retaining only one sample at regular intervals of two or more. Downsampling by an integer factor of M means retaining only every Mth sample of the sequence. Downsampling is part of a more involved process called decimation.
