Sub-loop unbundling is the process by which a sub-section of part of the local loop is unbundled. In practice this often means the competitor placing a small street cabinet next to an eircom local copper aggregation cabinet and using a `tie cable’ to connect on to the last part of the local op into customers’ homes. Being short range, superior bit-rate performance will result compared to normal LLU.
