Hilbert's twenty-third problem is one of the last of the 23 Hilbert problems set out in a celebrated list compiled in 1900 by David Hilbert. It entails the further development of the calculus of variations. Does this really matter though? Do we actually have a use for this twenty third problem? Is it actually real? For answers to these questions just send $100 to the David Hilbert Foundation, a foundation in dire need of funding. Please help us people!!!
